Bug Description

It is currently not possible to report a bug against the linux package when running Ubuntu on a Nexus 7. Apport does not know about the specific kernel version running on these devices.

How to reproduce:
- On a Nexus 7 device try to report a kernel bug:
ubuntu-bug linux

Apport will then collect data, but will not submit to Launchpad. The following error is reported:

Window title:
"Problem in linux-image-3.1.10-6-nexus7"

This problem cannot be reported:
This is not an official Ubuntu package. Please remove any third party package and try again.

The current kernel version is: linux-image-3.1.10-6-nexus7. However, it is possible the kernel version will change over time.

Changed in apport (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → High
tags: added: nexus7

I think we should also automatically add the 'mobile' tag when these bugs are opened.

I don't currently have a nexus 7 installation at hand, but does that kernel come from a particular PPA or so? What does "apt-cache policy linux-image-3.1.10-6-nexus7" say?

We could whitelist that PPA. The main question is, does the kernel team actually want bug reports against the linux source in Ubuntu for this, or should these reports go to a separate Lauchpad project instead? We can do either in Apport.

The PPA is:

http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-nexus7/ppa/ubuntu

They file the bugs in both Ubuntu and the Launchpad project ubuntu-nexus7. The needed tags are 'mobile' and 'nexus7'

It might be best to open the bugs against the ubuntu-nexus7 project for now.

This bug was fixed in the package apport - 2.6.2-0ubuntu4

---------------
apport (2.6.2-0ubuntu4) raring; urgency=low

  * data/package-hooks/source_linux.py: Do not abort with "not an Ubuntu
kernel" if the report has a CrashDB set, i. e. reports go to a different
    project.
  * Add data/package-hooks/source_linux-nexus7.py: Package hook for our nexus7
package which currently lives in a PPA: (LP: #1076082)
    - Report bugs against the "ubuntu-nexus7" project.
    - Collect information from the "linux" source package hook.
    - Add "mobile" and "nexus7" tags.
