Inclusion of /usr/local/games in PATH

Bug Description

Would be nice to have /usr/local/games included in the default PATH variable, so games that come in binary archives can be simply placed there and run without having to make links. /usr/games is for ubuntu installed games so why not add /usr/local/games!

Games include: Warsow, FretsOnFire, etc.

What do you mean by user installed games? You mean games you download from their website not from the repositories?

Yes. Alot of 3rd party games come in static binary builds these days
and need somewhere to be placed.

This is an appropriate change to make to the default path as set in /etc/environment by the libpam-modules postinst. I think this is an issue that's easy to fix and suitable for newcomers to Ubuntu development. If you need any help with fixing it, talk to me about it.

A proper solution should ensure /usr/local/games is safely added to the path both for new systems and for upgrades.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the branch!

Your proposed fix addresses this bug for the case of new installs, but not for upgrades where PATH is already set. Could you extend the patch to handle this case as well?

Also, if you wouldn't mind, it would be helpful if you would base your bzr branch on lp:ubuntu-core-dev/pam/ubuntu/ (the branch listed in debian/control's Vcs-Bzr field) instead of on lp:ubuntu/pam. I don't use the latter because UDD branches don't support Debian package branches other than auto-imported ones, and the Debian package is also maintained in bzr.
