ubiquity does not setup "Try $FLAVOUR" sessions in any way, it simply lets lightdm to autologin. Please make sure xubuntu default settings packages provide correct settings to lightdm to auto-login into a correct session type / name.

I can enter to xubuntu session, if:

1. type xubuntu in username field
2. click in password (this is important)
3. change Xfce session to Xubuntu session
4. change language to English
5. click in Log In button

If I forget step 2, then i login to xfce session.
