Bug Description

I was surprised with this features. Suddenly, the system started beeping at him about a meeting and asked if I want to cancel, dismiss, ok , etc.

pressing OK or Cancel puts the UI away but doesn't shut the alarm sounds. This is extremely annoying. BTW where is the setting to turn off notification?

Yeah, I got this. It's quite scary. I'm not sure that having the ringing on by default (on desktop?) is the best idea.

Notifications for calendar events is a good idea though.

+1 for "normal" notifications as well. If we have sound for those, on the desktop, I think need we need some sort of UI to be able to turn that off

Laney, Seb, I agree... I think there's something fundamentally different from alerting on a phone and on the desktop.

The snap + audio is to let you know something's going on when your phone is in your pocket or on your bedside table... but on the desktop, where you're already looking at the screen, the sound is annoying and the popup dialog is unnecessary.

Until design gives more direction on this, I'm going to have datetime use bubble notifications w/o sound when it sees notify-osd is the notification server.

  * When the notification engine is notify-osd, use bubble notifications
instead of the phone's snap decisions. (LP: #1283142)

Sorry, what do you mean by "Until design gives more direction on this"? I thought the spec was pretty clear that alarms on the PC shouldn't use Notify OSD in the first place. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TimeAndDate#alarm> If they're now using notification bubbles, that's wrong too: if you happen to be in the bathroom when an alarm goes off, you'll miss it completely.

We are probably not going to be able to implement the "alarm settings" from this spec before the LTS, displaying a dialog with an "OK" button seems fine though
