i do. this is a fresh kubuntu hoary install. i had the error with the
default kde-3.4 so i upgraded to kde-3.4.2 from one of the repositories on
kde.org thinking it would fix the problem. it did not.

I hate to ask this, but does this bug persist in Dapper beta?

I've got this here, although I haven't seen if it is flash related. When I leave my computer for a while with pages loaded, I return to find a dozen crash notifications. This is the backtrace on one of the recent ones, although it has already crashed and given me the signal 11 (SIGSEGV) a few dozen times this logon.

Tor

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash.

Forgot to mention that I am running a clean install of gutsy, except for the home directory, which is the same partition that I used for feisty, left alone and reused unchanged. Upgrade was done by installing gutsy to a reformatted root using the desktop CD.

I have the same problem with a systematic crash on visiting web pages that have flash contents with konqueror. Rather annoying since we can't have flash with Konqueror anymore.
Kubuntu 7.10 updated from earlier versions.
Thanks for any work to solve it.

I also get it; Gutsy's package doesn't seem to be built to provide me with backtrace or debug info.

I seem to get it often enough in Konqueror, when I use it as a browser. I tried reinstalling konqueror-nsplugins but no fix.

The same here. I am running ubuntu 7.10 on a three-years-old p4 laptop,
very standard hardware except the hi-res 1600x1200 display.

Konqueror just does not play flash from youtube and the like.
Upon closing the konqueror window (or the tab with the flash content), I get an error popup, the contents of which you can see in the attatchment.

I can't remember for how long I have got the popup, but I do remember that flash in ubuntu's konqueror has always been an issue for me since ubuntu 6.10 (my first version).

I have the konqueror-nsplugins package as well as the flashplugin-nonfree installed. As that did not work, I have also installed the flashplugin from adobe's tarball and tweaked konqueror to really find it (I believe). Still the same problem.

Volker Börchers (boercher) wrote :

Fixed this by cleaning up my ~/.mozilla directory. It contained some stale files from older plugin installations which firefox did not use. (After installation of package flashplugin-nonfree firefox used the plugins in /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree instead.)

Actually I didn't trace which file was the real cause of the problem but the following steps fixed it:

  aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree konqueror-nsplugins
  cd ~/.mozilla
  rm pluginreg.dat plugins/*
  cd plugins/
  ln -s /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so .

(You might want to make backups of the files before removing them.)

I guess that it's possible to make konqueror look into the same directories as firefox. Perhaps it's possible to implement a general fix in the nspluginviewer package in this way.

Same for my Hardy, 95% of sites containing flash generates an error for each flash animation (e.g. 2 flashes per page = 2 crashes per page) in konqueror. Firefox can play them with no problems.
