The update is part of GNOME stable updates.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME

GNOME Shell and its components should continue working well.

The verification is going to include checking those extensions before and after the update to ensure the SRU isn't creating regressions

[Regression potential]

There have been fixes in various places: system actions search in different languages, alignment of week numbers in calendar menu, lock screen, scaling of app icons on Hi-dpi displays, extension updates, missing icons in OSK and showing calendar events in calendar menu.

Hello Amr, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-shell into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/3.36.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

The gse list contains some extensions that have already been broken since Focal release in April 2020. Theses are the ones that I know:

gnome-shell-extension-weather → LP: #1873661, LP: #1835706

gnome-shell-extension-onboard → got removed in Debian on 2020-01-09 because of incompatibility with recent versions of gnome-shell (https://tracker.debian.org/news/1092762/accepted-onboard-141-5-source-into-unstable/)

gnome-shell-extension-multi-monitors → LP: #1873789

gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect(-browsers) → very broken, only supports GNOME 3.30, Ubuntu-specific, hasn't been updated since 2019-01-08

I meant that my reply to comment #3 that those broken extensions should not be considered as regressions with gnome-shell 3.36.7 because they are already broken from the beginning.

All of those extensions are already up-to-date upstream and in Debian. It’s that Ubuntu is always ahead of Debian in GNOME releases when an Ubuntu release is about to happen and the Debian sync freeze is in effect. I explained that here: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/scope-of-gnome-mru/18041/24?u=amr-ibrahim

Ah right, yes. I agree. Such a long list of extensions really should be expected to be broken already as extensions often are. I don't think it's sensible to block on those.

I have gnome-shell 3.36.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 installed from focal-proposed for three weeks now and my two-monitor setup is working great.
I have also the gnome-shell-extensions-gpaste installed and running without any problems.
