Error on Update

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make ubuntu better.
Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information.

At least we need:
1. The version of ubuntu involved (dapper, edgy, feisty, gutsy?)
2. What method of updating did you use? (Apt-get, Update-manager, Adept, ...?)
3. The full output of the updating process

I got the bug above described too.

1. gutsy, i suppose (ubuntu 7.10, 32bit from the c't magazin linux special cd)
2. i clicked on the 'updates avilable' symbol in the panel and followed the instructions.
3. unfortunately i already closed the window with the full output...

maybe (hopefully) that's enough additional information?

I got the bug above described too. after installing ubuntu from the below mentioned cd i followed the steps suggested by the system.

i would like to. problem is the file is empty. says the launchpad website and refuses to upload. sorry. thanks for your efforts.

The file is only readable by root.

You can access it by typing:
sudo cp /var/log/apt/term.log /tmp
sudo chmod 666 /tmp/term.log

And then upload /tmp/term.log.

ich habe mit der Alternate-Cd das Release inzwischen reparieren können, das
ist ziemlich einfach gegangen. Für zukünftige Releases werde ich daher immer
diese Version verwenden, da die menügeführe Desktop-Cd ja keine
Reparaturmöglichkeiten bietet.

(Hallo Mannfred, bitte beachte dass dieser Bugtracker hauptsächlich von nicht deutschsprachigen Entwicklern benutzt wird und um die Zusammenarbeit zu ermöglichen Bugverkehr auf englisch stattfinden sollte! Danke :-) )

Initial reporter repaired the packages by using the alternate cd. I'll leave this bug open to get Christian's log files.

the problem was solved by chance. i am not sure but i suppose it happened whilst another download or install was running.

attached you find the up-to-date log files.

This seems to be a duplicate of bug 122976, which has been closing. I'm investigating why it was closed and will eventually reopen it.
