Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-settings

When nvidia-settings is opened, the window has to always be resized to do anything useful.
See attached screenshot.

-----
The bug has been fixed in Intrepid, and NVIDIA notified about the fix. It should hopefully end up in a future (undetermined) NVIDIA driver release.

As this is a voluntary universe package, the risk for regression is very low.

Test Case:
1) Install nvidia-settings on a machine with an nvidia card
2) Open it up and observe that it opens in a very small window
3) Install the update from -proposed
4) Open nvidia-settings and verify that the window is actually a functional size.

As the duplicate also points out, the window size is automatically increased to fit every time a menu entry is clicked upon.

The window should, nevertheless, not spawn as small as it does at the moment.

If the calculation of the maximum needed size would take more than a second or so (some menu entries, like "OpenGL/GLX Information", seems to lag for 2-3 seconds when clicked upon), a reasonable compromise would be to spawn the window with the menu entry "X Server Information" (the first menu entry with general information) selected (actually, this should probably be done anyway! No reason to display *nothing* compared to showing the important general information).

I can also confirm this problem. It is pretty annoying if you work with projectors a lot...
