Bug Description

bugs in ubuntu/univserse are fixed by an upload of some motu to ubuntu. It would be great if there was some facility/script, that parses the changelogs searching for commands which indicate, that a specific bug was fixed.

This feature is already available in debian. Over there, I simply put a "(Closes: #12345)", and when the upload gets accepted, the bug is closed in bts automatically.

I don't think that this would have to be implemented in the ubuntu archive scripts. All uploads including their changes are posted to a mailing list: http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/breezy-changes. A script, that is subscribed to this list and parsing all changelogs there should be sufficient.

I see a lot of bugs closed with the last message having a copy of the last changelog. Do maintainers do that by hand or is code implemented to fix this bug?

Reinhard,

AFAIK it's not implemented in launchpad yet, but yes, specific syntax within a changelog should manipulate bug in Malone soon. We also are working linkify the changelog properly (bug # 30817).

BTW, brad, do we have the supported syntax documentation ?

Not yet for changelogs, but now that Ubuntu is running on Soyuz,
making this work could happen in the nearish future.

Update: this is probably a post 1.0 feature, so it may be a few months before we get to it.
