Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I'm using latest Hardy.

In the Monitor Resolution Settings (System->Preferences->Screen Resolution), some strings shows untranslated in my Spanish desktop.

The strings I can see untranslated are:

- "Monitor Resolution Settings"
- "_Resolution"
- "R_otation"
- "Unknown"

It may have some other untranslated strings, too.

As you can see, the Launchpad template is fully translated into Spanish:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/gnome-control-center/+pots/gnome-control-center-2.0/es/+translate

Maybe an intltool issue?

This was partially fixed by bug 212132, but actually since it only enabled i18n but didn't revert all strings back to those that were used by the old applet, there are new strings that are not available for translation. The strings are all _almost_ the same as before, only capitalization and hotkey differences etc., but unfortunately it makes them untranslated.

Since it's easier to add the new strings to PO files than to revert to the old ones (the current amount of patches to create the new applet is already quite big), here'd be a fix that would make the new strings translatable:

http://ppa.launchpad.net/timo-jyrinki/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gnome-control-center/gnome-control-center_2.22.0-0ubuntu6.dsc

It adds display-capplet.glade and xrandr-capplet.c to POTFILES.in, and the result is that the new strings are available for translation.

Debdiff attached.

This bug was fixed in the package gnome-control-center - 1:2.22.1-0ubuntu2

---------------
gnome-control-center (1:2.22.1-0ubuntu2) hardy; urgency=low

  * Merge latest display capplet patch from Redhat.
    - debian/patches/103_cc-glade-changes.patch
      - Drop as it is now included in Redhat's.
    - debian/patches/104_cc-randr12-enable-i18n.patch
      - No longer change the case of the "Refresh Rate" label,
keep it as uppercase to match the others.
      - Don't patch a debian/patches/ patch in the patch.
    - debian/patches/111_cc-randr12-dont-disable-active-monitor.patch
      - Drop as it is now included in Redhat's
  * Add debian/patches/112_cc-randr12-potfiles.patch to
make translated strings show up in the new display capplet.
Thanks to Timo Jyrinki for the fix. (LP: #213134)

There is two untranslated strings, yet:

- "Unknown"
- "Cloned Output"

May I create a new bugreport, or simply change the status of this one?

the Unknown string is not a gnome-control-center one, I've uploaded a new revision translating the other one and also the rotation options
