Bug Description
Binary package hint: rescue-mode
When using the alternate CD and booting in rescue mode if there is no partition table entering rescue mode fails. I recreated this by using a KVM instance using a new image file that had never been configured or installed onto. Basically a blank hard drive. Instead of a message saying as such, I just get "entering rescue mode failed."

Yeah, it's a TODO in the source:
if [ -z "$PARTITIONS" ]; then
exit 1
# TODO: need a sensible error here, or perhaps drop through
# to a fallback shell?
log "no partitions found!"
