Binary package hint: kodos
No "kodos" item appears in the GUI menu on either Gutsy or Hardy even though a /usr/share/menu/kodos file exists and appears to be well-formed. It looks like it's trying to appear under "Programming" which is not enabled by default on my machines, but when I go into System, Prefs, Main Menu, "kodos" is still not available under Applications/Programming. "Bug Report Tool" and "Python" are available but not checked.
I don't know enough about how the GUI desktop menus are supposed to work to guess at why this is happening.
You could also argue that anyone who needs kodos can figure out how to run it or add it to the menu, but that's not always true. I intend to do a quick demo at a user group tonight, and while some folks are interested in regexps, they aren't Linux/Gnome/Ubuntu power users (some have extensive Windows backgrounds :). They might like to goof around with kodos, but won't have the first clue what to do if it's not in the menu after install.

If any contributor wants to work on this, note that for the addition of a .desktop file its better to coordinate with Debian.
