Bug Description

1) get the Hardy desktop install CD 08.4.1

2) select Install ... on boot in the isolinux menu

3) minimize the installer window by clicking the _ button (tried with the installer progress window)

Now the window is now invisible.

The installer probably needs a window/icon list or a hacked windowmanager that refuses to unmap windows.

I think the right thing to do is to set a window manager hint to disable the minimise and close buttons, but I had a quick look round and don't see how to do this. I don't suppose anyone reading this knows the trick?

This bug was fixed in the package oem-config - 1.51

---------------
oem-config (1.51) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Log messages from update-rc.d rather than throwing them away.
  * Fix intltool handling; po/Makefile.in.in was still coming from gettext.
    Pass no-xml to IT_PROG_INTLTOOL so that we don't need to build-depend on
    libxml-parser-perl.
  * Add a comment to /etc/init.d/oem-config to explain the purpose of the
    oem-config-firstboot check.
  * Disable window minimise buttons when running in standalone mode at first
    boot (LP: #249045).
  * Run oem-config in debugging mode if 'debug-oem-config' is set on the
    kernel command line.
  * Update translations from Launchpad.
  * Automatic update of included source packages: user-setup 1.20ubuntu9.

  * Filter out the net subsystem when calling update-dev to prevent the
    network connection from resetting (LP: #276383).
  * If ubiquity is installing from a disk, such as a USB drive, then default
    to writing grub to the disk that /boot or / is to be written to, as (hd0)
    will most likely be the installation medium (LP: #282037).
  * Automatic update of included source packages: apt-setup
    1:0.37ubuntu5, partman-auto 78ubuntu3, partman-base 121ubuntu7,
    partman-target 55ubuntu4, user-setup 1.20ubuntu9.

  * Fix typo in architecture detection for ntfsprogs dependency.
  * Work around lpia having DEB_HOST_ARCH_CPU=i686 (!).
  * Disable window minimise buttons if the installer is running in
    standalone mode (LP: #249045).
  * Update imported translations from gtk+2.0 2.14.3-0ubuntu3.
  * Update translations from Launchpad (LP: #144741, #218636, #277451).

Pressing the Minimize button causes the window to disappear into the bottom right corner, never to be seen again (unless you know about alt-tab). Panic ensues.

This is not the case anymore in the ubiquity from the current daily Natty (19 March, 2011), so I guess it should be marked as Fix released. The installer does only have a close button, no minimize. See screenshot.
