Bug Description

Binary package hint: k3b

OS: Intrepid
Variant: 32bit Kubuntu Live
Iso Date: 20080730

Symptom: K3b Pops up an error message that says "Unable to find dvd+rw-format executable. K3b uses dvd+rw-format to format DVD-RW's and DVD+RW's. Solution: Install the dvd+rw-tools package." According to Riddell this also appears when the missing file is installed.

Cause: Unknown

1/ Start K3b

Hi,
if you launch dvd+rw-format manually from gnome-terminal you get any errors? if so, this could be the same bug as #235381.

Hi,

I've got the same problem with an up-to-date Hardy Kubuntu. I remember having no problem with Gutsy. From some research on the Net, it seems the problem comes from dvd+rw-tools (since version 6), rather than k3b. Sad it hadn't been fixed yet.

Currently :
K3B : 1.0.4
dvd+rw-tools : 7.0-9

Launched from the command line, dvd+rw-format says "Erreur de bus" in French, so it should be something like "bus error"
Same error while sudoing.
