Windows 7 is detected as Windows Vista

Bug Description

Binary package hint: os-prober

Running os-prober when I have Windows 7 installed gives this output:

/dev/sda3:Windows Vista (loader):Windows:chain

While the two are similar, I feel that this should be fixed for accuracy in grub. A source of confusion would be someone who had both Vista and 7 installed, and wasn't sure which entry was which.

I'd love to be more precise here. Can you provide any information on
telling the two apart? Right now, we treat any filesystem that contains
/bootmgr and /boot/bcd as Windows Vista; I'd appreciate information on
how to further distinguish Windows 7.

Failing that, we could say "Windows Vista/7", but I'd rather not if it
isn't necessary.

Yeah, I don't really know how to tell them apart either. I'm sure there's a way to check a file or something, but I couldn't come up with anything when looking on Google.

Unsurprisingly, the BCD file identifies it as "Windows 7" in the configuration entry for the loader

I'm not sure how you were thinking about searching that file, but here's a solution I came up with using grep

This bug was fixed in the package os-prober - 1.33

---------------
os-prober (1.33) unstable; urgency=low

  * Distinguish Windows 7, based on a patch from "mattduckman"
    (LP: #393565).
  * Don't try to mount LUKS partitions (thanks, Chow Loong Jin and Soren
    Hansen; closes: #546546, LP: #428785).
