Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

After installed kubuntu 6.06 final with dvd I have opened adept and with surprise the dvd source isn't listed in repositary, and also cannot add it via gui.

During installation internet was not available, so it's an important line to add, also it can be useful decide to add or not, don't know the perfect thing to do.

a "sudo apt-cdrom add" was needed, this is not user-friendly at all and it is a regression from breezy dvd.

(If this was a Ubiquity installation, then it's a known issue that we didn't have time to fix before release, but that's easy to fix for Edgy. It should still be recorded rather than just worked around in other package managers though.)

it was the same ubiquity dvd installation for this bug

syslog -> http://librarian.launchpad.net/3008668/syslog-kubuntu_606_final

this two bugs together cannot permit to install italian language (probably some others languages) from ubiquity and then also from adept without manually adding a cd-rom or adding repositary to download via internet.

ubiquity should use apt-setup's cdrom generator.

Colin I think it is also usefull that cdrom source is added to the dvd live.
In fact running the dvd without internet connection do not permit changing language, option available only with internet.

I think this is another adept bug (just add cdrom live sources.list), should I report in a new bug?

This bug is filed against both ubiquity and ept. I don't see why a new bug would be necessary.

I fixed this a while ago:

ubiquity (1.1.12) edgy; urgency=low

  * Install apt-setup cdrom generator.

Colin I have installed yesterday kubuntu 6.10 from ubiquity and I have to say that doesn't add cd-rom to sources.list.

However this is done *twice* with text installation.

The new repositories dialog in Feisty has an option to add a CD-ROM source.
