Not obvious how to remove a bug's duplicate marking

Bug Description

The current method of saying that a bug marked as a duplicate is not actually a duplicate is to click the edit button next to "Duplicate of bug #NNN", delete the number from the text field, and click the checkmark button. This is quite unintuitive.

(An alternative design is shown in <https://launchpad.canonical.com/DuplicateBugHandling>.)

(Fixing this bug would also fix bug 133622.)

This is no longer applicable with the advent of in-line duplicate marking

You're right, William. I was referring to the in-page UI, but the overlay doesn't clarify matters.

Agreed. It's a bit more obvious now, but the form is still confusing.
There should be a radio button, or some other explicit way of saying
that the bug isn't a duplicate anymore.

The emergent standard for this sort of UI interaction is to include a removal action on the overlay itself. The action icon can be composed of the (-) removal icon and a green link.

Reusing the removal action pattern would make sense for people who understand a duplicate marking as being an entity that you can delete -- for example, people familiar with the Launchpad database schema. For everyone else, though, I predict that it would make little sense: I think they understand a duplicate marking as being an assertion about a bug report, not an entity in itself.

It would be much more obvious if at least the word "Duplicate" was part of the click-able link, just like all the other items in the same UI box (Convert to a question, Link a related branch, and Link to CVE).

I'm not too proud to admit I wasted a silly amount of time trying to find that I'm supposed to click the icon.

You can no longer use Konqueror to unmark as duplicate too.

Alvin, that's not this bug, that's bug 394189.

May I ask what has changed? I do not notice anything. Or does Fix released mean it is not on production launchpad yet?

The form nor has a link to remove the duplicate bug. You do not need to guess that the the bug number must be deleted from the form field.

Ah, now I see it. Is is much more obvious now (once you stumble across the small edit icon, but that one is standard on launchpad, so no complaints there:-)).
