Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-sound

Similar to #521286 and #521930, my volume controls are grayed out and do not function. I am still able to adjust the volume through my keyboard and Sound Preferences. Submitting a new bug, since the others were labeled "Fix Released" and wasn't sure if this was a bug regression or something new.

My on-board audio is a Realtek ALC889A.

I have this to, and pulseaudio is definitly running. Unmute is grey'd out and so is the volume slider. The only thing that works is soundsettings. Using a soundcard with C-Media CMI8768 chip if that helps.

Okay I have just merged a fix for this behaviour this morning. This should hopefully be released Thursday. Basically the problem arises that on a amd64 machine the indicator starts before pulse audio does. The merge this morning makes the service at the backend ultimately robust against an unstable pulse audio scenario.

This bug was fixed in the package indicator-sound - 0.1.2-0ubuntu1

---------------
indicator-sound (0.1.2-0ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * New upstream version:
    - Stability of the service should now be much improved. The backend sound
      service should now be able to handle Pulseaudio not being up or flapping.
      (lp: #529324)
    - Arrow keys should be working properly allowing users to move between
      indicators. (lp: #525733)
