Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

Brasero loads and transcodes the mp3, then creates an image, and then gives me an "unknown error". I'll attach a screencast of the problem.

Work around: Tell brasero to burn your project to an image, then burn the image to a disk.

Hey Jorge, thanks for your report. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my CD burner and media, so I can't actually test this here, and for the next two weeks in Belgium. Seb, do you mind having a look at this? I can take some 2.30.1 SRUs in exchange :)

Some thoughts:

 * Find out how brasero calls wodim and call that manually with some test files, then strace it to see what goes wrong
 * Check if data CD burning works (I tried burning a data DVD some weeks ago, which worked well)

could be the same issue than bug #543892, I will have a look to it

bug #555485 is similar with video cds, it seems brasero current fail to burn images it creates, writing an iso works correctly though

Sebastien, bug 543892 is certainly not a duplicate of this bug, I commented on the GNOME bug as well but in case you are not subscribed I am putting it here as well. Bug 543892 Is about brasero failing to open with the -p arugument (which nautilus and rhythmbox both use)

I tried to reproduce this last night, and was not able to. Burning an audio CD worked quite fine for me.

Also this is a duplicate of bug 546655 that i filed a long time ago to launchpad as well as to GNOME.

I've just tried there with several mp3 and it works for me too, Jorge could you run "brasero --brasero-burn-debug" and get a debug log while getting the issue? is that a stock lucid installation? do you get the issue on any media type you are trying? (I tried on a cd-rw there)

Here is the debug you asked for.

Jorge, if you create a cue can you record it on a disk using brasero? using wodim directly?

I just went ahead and marked my bug as a dup of this one since you marked the importance of this one as high.

Sebastian, I can create a cue and record it to a disk using brasero, This was the workaround I had in my bug report.

I just rebuilt/packaged cdrkit from svn and the issue seems resolved. I was able to burn an audio cd with no issues. The manual eject error is still present, but that is resolved in a kernel update using 2.6.34rc6-lucid.

I have the same problem. Fresh 10.04 installation. Brasero was able to create a data cd (using CD-R) from flac files but not an audio cd. Tried creating an ISO but could not because of a missing library. The message tells me to install libraries manually and it looks like it will give a list of the libraries but it's just blank. The cdrdao and cue image types fail to start but not the readcd/readom image option. Downloaded Gnomebaker and was able to burn the audio CD. I ran brasero with the commands you gave above but was not able to obtain a log file. The information that you want is presented in the terminal but is not saved and I don't know how to do it. I think that it is the same bug and it just that some dependencies are not installed by default.

Ok same thing here. I'm using Lucid Lynx 10.04 up-to-date version. I tried to burn some mp3-files on a cd-r. It looked like Brasero would burn the CD: It created the image and showed a progress bar which said "Burning tracks to disk" or something like that. The drive didn't do anything though. When the progress bar reached 100% I got an error message "Unknown error" and when I tried to play the CD it was blank.

Workaround: Choosing "Burn directly to disk without saving on harddrive" worked for me.

So I guess the problem is that Brasero can't copy the cue/image/bin-files it created to the disk.

Maybe this bug is a duplicate of/related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/497048

@notbitmonk: Your description sounds like a different issue.
