Same problem here.Possibly due to a full disk.

Pierre, please file a new bug with all the necessary log files rather than attaching your problem to an existing bug.

OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/target/usr/share/locale-langpack/en/LC_MESSAGES'

This directory was just created earlier on in the installation, so the fact that it doesn't exist now probably indicates a problem with your hard disk. If the disk is getting old, it might be worth looking into a replacement.

Colin,
Thanks for the info. I received the latest version of Ubuntu and had a go
at installing that on the same hard drive. All went fine.
