Bug Description

After an extensive conversation with upstream, we want to update to this version, and the risk to non-bluetooth functionality is negligible.

We will need at least bluez-libs 3.5 for that. Debian has 3.7 of both at the moment.

bluez-libs changes:
ver 3.7:
 Add additional PDU length checks.
Fix CSRC value for partial responses.

ver 3.6:
Fix issues with the asynchronous API for SDP.

blue-utils changes:
ver 3.7:
       Fix class of device handling.
Fix error replies with pairing and security mode 3.
Fix disconnect method for RFCOMM connections.
Add match pattern for service searches.
       Add support for prioritized watches.

       Note:
This version needs at least bluez-libs-3.7

ver 3.6.1:
       Fix IO channel race conditions.
Fix pairing issues on big endian systems.
Fix pairing issues with page timeout errors.
Fix pairing state for security mode 3 requests.
Switch to user as default security manager mode.

Yes, I filed that request under bluez-libs as well.

There are lots of Ubuntu changes to bluez-utils (it's at 3.1-1ubuntu10). Has anybody checked them over?

It doesn't need syncing, Tollef wants to make changes for bug 59222 anyway.

Hi Daniel,

best is to go for 3.7 for both versions. The bluez-libs-3.7 from Debian
is clean and should make no problems at all. The bluez-utils-3.7 from
Debian is finally a lot cleaner than before. Thanks to the Debian
maintainer who acted up on my package review. However it is not as clean
as I like to see it, but that might take some additional time. All of
them are minor things that can be finally removed at some point.

However it has still one major problem in the build dependencies. It
does not depend on libdbus-glib-1-dev (> 0.35). This was an upstream
typo a couple of releases ago.

I also saw a bug report that bluez-hcidump-1.31 won't compile with
bluez-libs-3.7. This is an upstream bug and basically my mistake. With
the bluez-hcidump-1.32 there is no problem. So this needs to be synced
also or I can provide a patch for bluez-hcidump-1.31 that fixes the
compilation problem.

For a full Bluetooth experience we need a passkey agent and this is
provided by the bluez-gnome package.

Regards

Marcel

Thanks Marcel for the analysis of the problem. I just let bluez-gnome sync - bluez-hcidump was just uploaded to Debian, we just sync it as well - I'll do a quick review.
