Hi Colin,

thank you for the remainder. I have solved this problem by changeing the RAM module. So the basic reason for the error is in the used hardware. Of cause still open is: can the installer detect this or give a more precise hint for the error reason?

Have a nice evening,
John

I'm afraid I will have to reject this bug report, as there is nothing on the software side that can be done to compensate for hardware errors like this. Thanks a lot for reporting this and for tracking down the problem!

I think Vassilis is right here. While it's always nice to produce better errors, if you have faulty RAM then the error could show up just about anywhere, including in the error detection code ...

Of cause a hardware error cannot be fixed by any software. My idea was just: the error message was misleading for me, it told me about wrong / errornous installer files. But the message shown was not the correct diagnosis for the error. From this point of view a better error message would also include a faulty RAM. Or at least give a hint, that a wrong installer file is not the only possible reason for the crash.

Anyway: my system i working very stable now.

John
