Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu

On the *buntu Alpha 1 and 2 CDs, the slideshow that shows as Ubiquity is installing the operating system (ubiquity-slideshow-lubuntu 40) has as the text of its first slide:

        Welcome!

        Thank you for choosing Lubuntu 11.04!

        Lubuntu is designed to be easy and fast.
        Feel free to explore!

On Oneiric, this should say Lubuntu 11.10 rather than Lubuntu 11.04. (A screenshot is attached.)

There is a similar bug in the binary package ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu (on Ubuntu rather than Lubuntu). I'm not sure whether or not that should be considered the same bug as this. I've reported it separately as bug 798767.

Just to clarify on where this is, I would prefer to just have this fixed when new copy for 11.10 starts to trickle in for each slideshow (by the beta / later alphas), instead of attacking the one problem directly. If we just change just the version number, new pot files with that one change always seem to find their way into Rosetta, rendering existing translations obsolete. I would prefer that we just avoid that altogether since it ends up wasting translators' time :)

Sorry this is taking so long for the Ubuntu slideshow, folks!
It's my weekend project this week to get the slideshow happening for 11.10. (And hopefully finished a little while later).

There are the following changes to accommodate with the switch:
 * New Gnome Control Center, with font / theme stuff moved to Accessibility preferences.
 * New default email software.
 * Microblogging is awesome now.
 * Serious changes to the messaging menu / me menu.

If you can think of something else the slideshow is outdated about, leave a comment here :)
