Bibus is not installable in Oneiric (depends on python<2.7)

I get the following error message when attempting to install bibus on Ubuntu Oneiric:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 bibus : Depends: python (< 2.7) but 2.7.2-5ubuntu1 is to be installed
         Recommends: openoffice.org-writer but it is not going to be installed
         Recommends: bibus-doc-en but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Workaround - package from official Bibus site works in Oneiric.

This is critical software! A fix is urgent!

You might want to try to install the more recent Debian revision 1.5.1-5 from here:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/bibus
There is a link to the .deb package at the bottom of the page.

allows for Bibus installation on Ubuntu 11.10.
But a new problem then arises: there is no way to select different styles: you get stuck with the one by default, which of courses renders Bibus useless. Any idea how to fix that one?

Formatting appears to work with the newer version, 1.5.2.2, from SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/bibus-biblio/.

Bibus is necessary for academic papers like Bachelor and Master Thesis.
So a working package ist very important for students working on their thesis !!!

It seems that a simple rebuild could be enough.

$ sudo dpkg -i bibus_1.5.1-3ubuntu2_all.deb

Thanks a lot for your work on this.

I just uploaded the fix, but changed the changelog entry in the following ways:

 - upload to oneiric-proposed (as opposed to oneiric)
 - changed the version number to 1.5.1-3ubuntu1.1
 - added the bug number to the changelog entry.

I tested the fix in a chroot and it works fine. The archive admins will need to review this before it goes live into -proposed and then into -updates. Therefore I'll unsubscribe the sponsors team for now.
