Hello Alberto, or anyone else affected,

Accepted fglrx-installer-updates into oneiric-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

Argh, this went to -updates, not to -proposed, sorry. I did not see that until after accepting the package. Alberto already tested it, but could somebody else give it a spin? Thanks!

Sorry about that Martin, the name -updates confused me a bit and I used it instead of -proposed...

Testing it now with manually installed .debs from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/f/fglrx-installer-updates/:
dpkg -i fglrx-updates_8.902-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb fglrx-updates-dev_8.902-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb fglrx-amdcccle-updates_8.902-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

Hardware:
AMD E-450 with integrated Radeon HD 6320

Good:
- The dreaded "Unsupported hardware" watemark is gone
- Unity, OpenCL and OpenGL work at least as good as before (I tested CL and GL with some self-written tools)

Bad:
- Catalyst Control Center still says I'm running 8.881 (11.8)

More goodness: Suspend finally works!
It's not usable yet, the Unity desktop isn't restored (I only see the wallpaper and the mouse cursor) and I get I/O errors when I try to log in from the console, but at least the display turns back on. This was not the case with any AMD GPU and Catalyst drivers I tried during the last year.

It is a driver bug that it still says you're running 11.8 in the Catalyst Control Center. It only shows the version of the driver you installed for the first time but never updates.

Also note that Catalyst 11.11 (fglrx 8.91) is releasing in 1-2 hours.
