Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

In my system (Ubuntu Edgy x86, Athlon 64 3200+, 512 MB RAM, SATA HD) gedit may take up to 10 seconds in some loads. I'd like to use it as a replacement for nano, but this would require that it didn't take more than 2~3 seconds worst case.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Load gedit early after boot, or after some time doing other things in the system
2) gedits reads a lot of data from the disk and takes up to 10 seconds to load

What should have happened:
gedit should have loaded quickly, like nano does.

Thank you for your bug. I don't confirm that, on my athlon 3000+ gedit takes around 1 second to start. Maybe you have some network bookmark or something and it tries to use network when launched?

 gedit may also take 1 minute or less in my machine, starting from the
second attempt.

Sorry, I haven't been paying attention to this lately. You may close the bug if you'd like. gedit is loading ok (2s first load) right now.
