Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

[On an up-to-date feisty]
[The install is an update from edgy to feisty - made some time ago]

There is a directory X11 in /usr/bin/X11/ that is linked
to ".".

(2 entry in the list below)

$ ls -ldh /usr/bin/X11/X*
-rwsr-sr-x 1 root root 7.6K 2007-03-09 20:58 /usr/bin/X11/X
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 1 2006-12-28 18:15 /usr/bin/X11/X11 -> .
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3.3M 2007-02-28 21:21 /usr/bin/X11/Xnest
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1.6M 2007-02-28 21:21 /usr/bin/X11/Xorg

I might overlook something (I am not an X11 expert), but this is
looking odd.

This is correct. /usr/bin/X11 is symlinked to . (i.e. /usr/bin). This is here for compatibility with older versions of X, and is intentional.

Changed in xorg:
assignee: nobody → kamion
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected

Ok.

[ I can't help:

I will not try to discuss "why this is needed in older X",
but I do not see the need for it when one has a recent X then.

In other words, when one updates to xorg-7.2 how come particularities
of say XFree86-from-some-time-ago have to remain ? Did I miss what
xorg-7.2 has to be made compatible with ?
