Bug Description

Bug 53180 has an extremely long description containing large log files. (There are other bug reports about how this should be prohibited or mitigated; I don't propose to go into that here.)

I tried to reassign that bug to linux-source-2.6.15 and add a comment, and (separately) I tried to edit the description to make it much shorter. I could not do either. In both cases, and from both launchpad.net and beta.launchpad.net, after a very long delay (minutes), Launchpad returned a proxy error:

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/53180/+edit.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Am I doomed to have this bug on my list forever without being able to modify it? :-)

I believe the correct fix is to fix 61548 so we don't end up with long descriptions in the DB. Colin, would ask Stuart to trim the description directly in the DB be an accceptable short term solution?

Yes, thanks - in this case the logs are also available in comments/1 so it's OK to lose the original description if necessary.
