I am a developer/maintainer of ViewMail (aka VM) package of Emacs.
In my day job, I am a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham. I specialize in theory of programming, including programming language principles, programming logics, and tools for program development and verification.

for VM
Headers-only messages in a VM folder have only their headers stored in the folder. The bodies of the messages are stored somewhere externally and fetched on demand.
