NOTE FOR ALL: If any game has a missing FFmpeg/multimedia dependency (ie. libfluidsynth3 needed by ScummVM) then simply add the FFmpeg PPA as below.

Note for Xenial: Latest MAME requires GCC >= 7 to install and run. Also, some packages require FFmpeg >= 4.4 (ie. retroarch). The simplest way to handle both dependencies is to add the FFmpeg 4 PPA, which has a copy of GCC 7.5.0 (from ppa:savoury1/gcc-defaults-7). So follow these steps first:

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg4
  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/games
  sudo apt-get update

Note for Xenial & Bionic: Latest chiaki requires Qt >= 5.12 so this build is with Qt 5.15.x at ppa:savoury1/qt-5-15 and then requires that version to run. Upgrading the Qt stack is a relatively major process so make sure you want this before proceeding. If so follow instructions at the Qt PPA:

This PPA has build dependencies on:

  ppa:savoury1/inkscape

Additionally, for Xenial only:

  ppa:savoury1/gcc-defaults-7

Note: Only MAME builds use ppa:savoury1/{python,inkscape} PPAs, due a BD on python3-sphinxcontrib.svg2pdfconverter to create docs (and this Python package has a BD on inkscape). Neither PPA is required for installation.
