Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Testing Lucid Alpha 3 candidate images (20100223.1)

The text looks corrupted. This is KVM and Spanish, but Dave Morley experiences the same in HW and English.

On Detect Keyboard I get:

which I'm assuming should be <Go Back> <Yes> <No>

I've been investigating this, and can reproduce it, but so far I have been unable to reproduce it in a sufficiently controlled environment to allow me to actually debug it. It looks as if strings are getting un-null-terminated somehow, but I have not so far been able to determine whether this is happening within cdebconf itself or whether it's within newt or slang2 or somewhere else.

(To compound the problem, newt doesn't seem to build from source for me right now ...)

This bug was fixed in the package newt - 0.52.10-5ubuntu1

---------------
newt (0.52.10-5ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * Define TRUE and FALSE, fixing build failure (thanks, Theppitak
    Karoonboonyanan; Debian bug #570663).
  * Zero-initialise fribidi_log2vis' output buffer, since it no longer does
    so itself (thanks to Brad Jorsch for analysis; Debian bug #570581;
    LP: #526391).
