Unity Greeter - finesse animation transitions and kinetics

Updated the reference video – see the attached file "login_screen_v02_longer_H264.mov".

Will the greeter have access to files owned by users other than root? Or inside user's directories?

Perhaps if users choose a personal file as their wallpaper they should have to grant read access to all users?
Or tick a checkbox in the wallpaper settings, “Show this wallpaper on the login screen”?

So just to clarify, AFAICT this bug is about the scrolling animation of the user list. Specifically, when switching users:

1) The current password box disappears (no animation)
2) The current username and gear scroll up or down and off the highlight box
3) The next username and gear scroll up or down into the highlight box to rest where they should
4) the new password box appears (no animation)

And also:
5) When first appearing, the greeter scrolls from the top of the list to the default user

From what I see of the animation and current behavior, doing those 5 things would close this bug, right? (the background switching issues are in bug 844081)

Those five + the speed and tweening used when scrolling the list. Ask Jason Smith about what tweening algorithm we should be using (he's working on standardising this across Unity).
