[can-not-install] file overwrite error

sudo dpkg --force-all /var/cache/apt/archives/ltp-kernel-test_20060918-2ubuntu3_i386.deb

The file that ltp-kernel-test is trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/debian-test/tests/linux/runtest/syscalls', which is also in package ltp-commands-test is exactly the same file. So it isn't any problem to execute this command.

was, that i couldn't find the file the patch affects to... i cant find the file: "ltp-20080229/debian/ltp-commands-test.install"

You're right, as a matter of fact the tree extracted from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/l/ltp/ltp_20080229.orig.tar.gz does not contain this file...

However, I do not confirm the bug: it installed without errors on my system with "sudo aptitude install ltp". I'm running hardy.

You can't confirm the bug because you didn't installed the package that gives the problem... XD

The binary package which suffers fromt this bug is ltp-kernel-test and not ltp

So maybe the bug report should be modified a bit

is this still a problem for intrepid? If so, can you provide a debdiff instead of a simple patch?
To fix hardy, you might want to take a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates.

unsubscribing ubuntu-universe-sponsors, as we can only sponsor debdiffs (patches should be handled by normal bug contacts).
If you have a debdiff, please resubsribe ubuntu-universe-sponsors (of course Kees could also take a look and upload it ;)).

P.S.: setting to confirmed/medium, as the log clearly shows.

The fix for this has been uploaded, but the packages seem to be pretty broken: for instance for the commands test most of the object files needed to properly run the tests are not installed so most of the tests fail.

This bug was fixed in the package ltp - 20080229-0ubuntu3
