language packs not installed with alternate CD

Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

I Installed Xubuntu from alternate CD and chose German Localization on the very beginning of the installation. I also chose to download language-packs from the internet archives.

gdm did not get localized, because language-pack-gnome-de was not installed.

Conclusion: language-pack-gnome should become installed even in xubuntu for gdm localization.

thanks for your bug report. could you please check and see if you have the "locales" package installed?

the gdm package suggests the locales package, and so i want to see if this has any impact on the problem. thank you.

Package locales is installed, so this has nothing to do with the problem. language-pack-de-base replaces language-pack-gnome-de, maybe the problem is somewhere around that?

Confirmed here on Gutsy amd64 alternate 20070925 (beta candidate). I selected German, but final system only had English langpacks.

This is the same problem as documented in bug 348393. I know that bug was filed later, but since it already has a diagnosis and the right bug status, I'll mark this one as a duplicate.
