20090202 tested still in affect.

This also effects the Nvidia driver too but not the nv driver.

This problem also occurs on my laptop's 1680x1050 screen. It is easy to fix, though. Just resize the panel to fill the screen.

Still a problem as of March 3, 2009 in Kubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) Alpha 5. I have an Intel GM965/GL960 graphics card and a screen resolution of 1440x900.

Pitti I think this was put in place more as a reminder to do it. I'll run an install now though and see if it is still in place

Same problem here on x200s (Intel 4500, 1440x900). It may be that this is related to (some) wide screens: panel is resized only to fit 4:3 screen.

It may have been fixed in 1:9.04.16, but it appears to be broken again in 1:9.04.17. At least, wiping out my home folder (while logged out) with 1:9.04.17 does not make the panel expand to the width of the screen.

It just got re-fixed:

kubuntu-default-settings (1:9.04.19) jaunty; urgency=low

  [ Jonathan Riddell ]
  * Revert plasma-appletsrc back to (near) empty version,
    it wrongly reappeared again

  [ Anthony Mercatante ]
  * Added digikamrc, to disable the tip of the day
