Bug Description

This was done in a ubuntu-netbook-remix build from Mar 23, 2009, oem-config version 1.54.9. The netbook I was using was an Asus Eee900

I was testing oem install with UNR, and after reaching the initial boot, I ran oem-config-prepare so that firstboot would launch on the next reboot. On the next reboot, oem-config-firstboot ran, but the window was sized way to big for the standard supported 1024x600 resolution of netbooks. Buttons at the bottom of the screen were not visible. Screenshots attached.

(I noticed the same when installing on my EeePC 701SD; I personally didn't report it as these issues were brought up at UDS and were well known.)

Loïc said on IRC that this is high on their list of things to be fixed for Jaunty if possible, but if it turns out not to be possible we can downgrade it from the RC list.

I've tested a small change in bumping the width of the languages iconview up by a column and it appears to make this much better. It's just barely cut off now on a 800x576 screen, so hopefully it's all the way there for 1024x600.

Can someone with a 1024x600 give it a shot?

This bug was fixed in the package oem-config - 1.54.10

---------------
oem-config (1.54.10) jaunty; urgency=low

  [ Colin Watson ]
  * Tighten frontend dependencies on oem-config to prevent problems when one
    architecture is out of sync.
  * Set passwd/auto-login=true rather than implementing auto-login ourselves
    (LP: #347900).
  * Suggest checkbox/checkbox-gtk rather than recommending
    hwtest/hwtest-gtk.
  * Update translations from Launchpad.
  * Automatic update of included source packages: console-setup 1.28ubuntu7,
    user-setup 1.23ubuntu15.

  [ Evan Dandrea ]
  * Update the timezone_map to match changes in ubiquity (more accurate
    city placement).
  * Merge in the new KDE time zone map from ubiquity. Thanks Roman
    Shtylman.

  [ Mario Limonciello ]
  * Change the number of columns in the language icon view to 5. This
should make it fit in 1024x600. (LP: #347350)
  * Remove old hack in gtk frontend to only show scrollbars on language
selector when it would be larger than the desktop. With the hack taken
out, the scrollbars aren't showing up on 800x576, which is likely the
    lowest supportable resolution.
