I think the bug report process is bugged so what we see here is not the real bug: It crashed when it tries to report a crash...

Ayke (ayke) wrote :

Yes, it crashed when reporting a crash. But I think that crash is caused by the previous crash. By me dpkg failed to install the gstreamer update, and, I think, that caused the crash in aptd. So, yes, there crashes something while the first crash is being reported.

This is related to Bug 751911.

While that might be the cause for this crash, this is probably still a bug of it's own. It doesn't seem that conflicting packages should be able to crash aptd.

Has anyone here had this issue resulting from something other than gstreamer-plugins?

This crash occurred again today when branding-update failed to update to 0.6. It interrupted the udev update, making it divert, preventing update-initramfs to run and causing the system to become unbootable. Finishing dpkg --configure -a using chroot solved that.

all we do is try to update, get an error, and report the bug, like the helpful ubuntu enthousiasts we are.
The bug description matches this bug's word for word. Launchpad itself directed me to this particular bug. who am i not to follow?

i'd appreciate if I weren't told to stop reporting bugs, on launchpad.

i see this bug is supposed to be fixed, however, i'm still getting the error.
