Bug Description

I just tried to install B2 on a Asus Eee-PC 1000H with a 10" display. Every single window was sized correctly but one:
The window which offers to take a login-picture with the webcam (or where one can choose a picture) is too big for the 10" screen thus makes it impossible to reach the forward/backward button by mouse.

The "Choose a picture" window stopped my install. No way to proceed I thought.

Do note by that time "grub" was screwed which took a scramble with a usb hard drive to get running again.

Someone on the forums said put the mouse cursor in the middle, hold down Alt, press left button and move the screen.

That worked, I was able to move the window to get to Continue.

I'd appreciate it if Continue was pre-selected so simply pushing enter would get by this troublesome screen.

For that matter, since I can change the picture with "settings" I don't see the utility of this "extra" step in install whatever.

I'd prefer install where you set up choices, when all are made, then install proceeds without this complication of every so often a new choice shows up which can clobber the install and grub if these further choices fail.

Same problem, eeepc display 1024 x 600 but I would imagine you would have this problem on almost any netbook,

Occurs on the Dell Inspiron Mini (1024x576). This was one of the Ubuntu pre-install machines, so 576 pixels high might be worth targeting, rather than 640.

I'm bumping the priority on this to High. I suspect in addition to netbooks, any device with smaller resolution (or that is running in 1024x640 due to random graphics detection issues) is going to hit this. It sounds like Canonical will be trying to target a wider diversity of devices in the future like TVs and whatnot, which may have lower or undetected resolutions.

Guessing this should be pretty straightforward to fix, but may need design attention to re-layout the dialog. (Unless everything can just be shrunk when the screen resolution is below 800.)

Hi,

I have a new Monitor attached 2 my desktop PC, resolution is 1600x900. Would it be likely this could affect me too? Just to point out Desktop-PC might be affected too...

All VMware desktop products would be effected by this bug as well (Fusion, Workstation, Player, View), as the default screen size is 800x600. And we can't resize the VM at that time since tools have not been installed.

Cheers, Jakob.
