Bug Description

Hi, I saw this behaviour with feisty with kernel 2.6.20-8.
My laptop is an ASUS F3JC with intel HDA audio and the ALC660, I'm running kubuntu.
When the phones are unplugged, I have no sound at all in the speakers. When I plug the headphones in, sound comes from the speakers, instead of the headphones. Switching the phones glaf/switch in Kmix doesn't seem to produce any effect. Phones and speaker work well under windows XP.

Previously, with edgy, I had sound on the speakers, and pluging the headphones in muted the speakers, but I had no sound in the headphones at all. In feisty it seems to work the other oposite way...

cheers,

I was using a fresh feisty herd 2 (or 1, can't really remember), dist-upgraded up to herd 4 when I reported the bug.
As of right now I'm using the herd 5 live cd and the sound is behaving ok, the only annoyence being that PCM isn't set as the default master volume control in kmix. So I really don't know if the problem is still here or not, but I'll keep you posted right after I reboot from the instalation (currently in progress...)

cheers,

I've been using the fresh install for a while now and sound seems to work fine. Probably I got into some quirk throughout the dist-upgrades...

Oh dear,
I'm sorry for being "bugging" you again, but the problem is not solved after all.
However there was a change in the behaviour using the fresh install: when I plug in the HP, I *do* get sound through the HP but the main speakers still do *not* mute.

I didn't pay enough attention when I looked at it, but it happens that with the HP I need to keep the volume a bit lower and the main speakers are on.
I'm really sorry for the confusion. :s
In kmix, the "master" switch mutes both ways (HP & main) when off.
The "mixer" and "IEC" do not produce any audible effect.

cheers,
