@FH: Yes, I can confirm that all required upstream commits for this feature:

commit 6bd93f475cd2 ("Clean up of libdasd")
commit e09c675b7094 ("libvtoc: Introduce is_vol1() check")
commit cf5f373142cc ("zipl: Rename component_type enum")
commit f7d2339c6ad6 ("zipl: List-Directed IPL from ECKD DASD")

are included in s390-tools 2.25.0, available at
https://github.com/ibm-s390-linux/s390-tools/releases/tag/v2.25.0

Fantastic, thanks for the confirmation!
With that we will have these commits incl. in lunar, when we eventually migrate to the planned s390-tools target version for lunar (which will come around Feb 10th - presumable a 2.25.1 or 2.26.0).
